Can I postpone my Ceremony?

Yes, by emailing the ceremony team at: alnwickreg@northumberland.gov.uk with your name, number and current ceremony date. One of the team will be happy to contact you and  help rearrange your ceremony date.  Please be aware that your notice of marriage or civil partnership may be out of date and need to be redone. 

Will I be charged to rearrange my ceremony date?

If your booking was booked pre COVID19 then No, the usual fee for making changes to your booking will be waived if you are rearranging your ceremony due to the COVID19 pandemic.  If this is a new booking that has been booked within the COVID19 pandemic period then Yes, a new booking fee will be due for all rearrangements, whether COVID19 related or not. 

Please note that in moving your ceremony your notice of marriage or civil partnership may be out of date and need to be redone.

Can I transfer my notice of marriage or civil partnership to another venue?

No, the notice that you have given is for your original location and it can not be moved to another location.  A new notice will have to be given.

Are marriage or civil partnership notice appointments still going ahead?

Yes,  if you call the office on 01665 602870 one of our team will be happy to book in your appointment.  Please note this is only for residents of Northumberland. 

Can my notice of marriage or civil partnership be extended?

Sadly, no. The notice of marriage or civil partnership is a statutory legal requirement by the General Registration Office, which is out of the local authorities control.  If your notice of marriage or civil partnership expires then a new notice will have to be made.
